Armenia places Bangladesh in its **INVITATION-ONLY** visa category — one of the most restrictive classifications, grouped alongside Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Nigeria, and Sri Lanka. **Exception — temporary programme (2025-2026):** BD nationals holding a valid residence permit from the **US, EU, UK, or GCC countries** with at least 6 months remaining validity can enter Armenia **visa-free for up to 180 days**. This is a temporary facilitation programme — verify current status before travel.

NAGORNO-KARABAKH AFTERMATH:

Armenia suffered a devastating military defeat to Azerbaijan in the **2020 Second Nagorno-Karabakh War** (44 days, ~4,000 Armenian soldiers killed). In **September 2023**, Azerbaijan launched a final military operation and took complete control of Nagorno-Karabakh, triggering the **displacement of over 100,000 ethnic Armenians** from the region.

The **Armenia-Azerbaijan border** remains tense with unresolved demarcation. Landmines are present in border areas. Travel near the eastern border with Azerbaijan should be avoided.

Note: Turkey-Armenia relations are complex (the land border has been closed since 1993), but diplomatic accreditation operates independently of bilateral border status.

LANGUAGE:

**Armenian** is the official language, written in its own unique **Armenian script** (invented in 405 AD). Russian is widely spoken. English proficiency is growing in Yerevan but limited elsewhere. Hard barrier for BD nationals.
