Azerbaijan does **NOT** offer an eVisa to Bangladeshi nationals. This is a documented correction — see the eVisa reversal section below.

**D9 eVISA REVERSAL — FALSE ELIGIBILITY CORRECTED:**

During our initial verification (Batch D9), multiple third-party sources indicated that Bangladesh was eligible for the Azerbaijan eVisa. This turned out to be **FALSE**. The correction is documented here transparently:

- **The official Azerbaijan eVisa portal** at **evisa.gov.az/en/countries** uses an **INCLUSION-LIST** — it explicitly lists the countries eligible for eVisa. **Bangladesh is NOT on that list.**
- The false positive originated from **azerbaijanevisa.com**, operated by **Travejar Tourism LLC** (registered in Dubai, UAE). This is a **third-party visa processing company**, NOT a government portal. Their website falsely claims BD eligibility — they will accept your money and application, but the Azerbaijan government will not issue the visa.
- Additional aggregators (VisaList, Sherpa) also showed BD as eVisa-eligible, likely sourcing from the same non-authoritative data.

**Rule 31 methodology:** INCLUSION-LIST (evisa.gov.az/en/countries). BD not in list = not eligible. Third-party intermediaries (azerbaijanevisa.com/Travejar) are non-authoritative per Hard Rule 31.

COUNTRY PROFILE:

Azerbaijan is an **authoritarian petro-state** on the western shore of the Caspian Sea. The country has been ruled by the **Aliyev family** since 1993 (Heydar Aliyev 1993-2003, Ilham Aliyev 2003-present). Freedom of press, assembly, and opposition are severely restricted.

Azerbaijan won the **2020 Second Nagorno-Karabakh War** against Armenia (44 days) and in **September 2023** launched a final operation to take complete control of the region, displacing over 100,000 ethnic Armenians.

GDP per capita approximately **$7,284** (2024, World Bank nominal) — about **2.7 times Bangladesh's level**. The Azerbaijani manat (AZN) is the currency. The economy is heavily dependent on **oil and gas** (Caspian Sea reserves), which account for ~90% of exports and ~50% of government revenue. Baku is wealthy; rural areas are significantly poorer.

There is no Bangladesh Embassy in Azerbaijan. The nearest BD mission is the **Embassy of Bangladesh in Ankara, Turkey** (ankara.mofa.gov.bd, ~1,700km from Baku). The Ambassador in Ankara met the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister in November 2025, confirming coverage.

LANGUAGE:

**Azerbaijani** (a Turkic language) is the official language. Russian is widely spoken. English is limited. Hard barrier for BD nationals.
