Cuba is NOT a labour destination for Bangladeshi nationals. There is no Bangladeshi community in Cuba, no bilateral labour agreement, and no recruitment pathway. Cuba is NOT part of the documented BD→US transit corridor.

COLLAPSED ECONOMY:
Cuba's economy contracted approximately 5% in 2025 — the third consecutive year of contraction, with a cumulative GDP decline exceeding 15% since 2020. The country has experienced a severe energy crisis since mid-2024, with rolling blackouts affecting daily life. Cuba has a population of approximately 11 million and GDP per capita of approximately $7,381 (2024) — roughly 2.7 times Bangladesh's level, though this figure overstates purchasing power given the economic collapse.

TIP TIER 3 — FORCED LABOR IN MEDICAL MISSIONS:
Cuba's TIP status is Tier 3 (2025) — the worst possible ranking. The US State Department has determined that the Cuban government itself is a perpetrator of forced labour through its medical missions abroad. Cuban doctors deployed to foreign countries under government programmes have reported indicators of forced labour including confiscation of passports, restricted movement, withheld wages, and threats of retaliation against family members.

VISA POLICY:
Bangladeshi citizens require an embassy visa. Bangladesh is among approximately 22 countries explicitly excluded from Cuba's e-Visa system (introduced July 2025) — applications must be made in person. Tourist visa is valid for 1 month.

DIPLOMATIC PRESENCE:
Bangladesh and Cuba established diplomatic relations in January 1972 (the day after Bangladesh's independence). Bangladesh maintains an honorary consulate in Havana — staffed by a local Cuban national, not a posted Bangladeshi diplomat. The covering embassy is the Bangladesh High Commission in Ottawa, Canada (approximately 2,300km from Havana). The honorary consulate provides limited ceremonial and administrative services only.

The Cuban Peso (CUP) has experienced severe depreciation on the informal market. Irrelevant for BD labour migration — no recruitment pathway exists.
