There is no economic case for labour migration from Bangladesh to Honduras: you would be migrating to a country with lower wages, higher violence, and zero support infrastructure.

NORTHERN TRIANGLE VIOLENCE:
Honduras is one of the three "Northern Triangle" countries (with Guatemala and El Salvador) — historically among the most violent countries in the world outside of active war zones. The two dominant gangs are MS-13 (Mara Salvatrucha) and Barrio 18 (18th Street Gang), which control large swathes of urban territory through extortion, kidnapping, and murder.

Extortion affected over 300,000 households (11% of all Honduran households) in 2024. Over 318,600 people have been internally displaced by gang violence. Migrants passing through Honduras face a specific danger: kidnapping for ransom. Criminal groups systematically kidnap migrants and force them to call families in their home countries to arrange money transfers. A Bangladeshi national stranded in Honduras with family contact information is a target for this practice.

DOCUMENTED BD CONNECTION:
ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement) arrested a Honduran man who was smuggling Bangladeshi and Pakistani citizens through Mexico — documenting that Honduran smuggling networks are directly connected to South Asian migration channels.

Honduras is part of the CA-4 free movement agreement with Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua — a single visa covers all four countries.

Honduras's TIP status is Tier 2 (2025).

Honduras has a population of approximately 10.6 million with a GDP per capita of approximately $2,573 (2024) — the lowest in Central America and below Bangladesh's level. Key sectors include agriculture (coffee, bananas, palm oil), textiles (maquila sector), and remittances from the United States (which constitute approximately 27% of GDP, World Bank 2024).

None of this economic activity is accessible to Bangladeshi nationals. The maquila sector employs primarily Honduran nationals at wages that are below Bangladeshi garment-sector minimums.
