Morocco has a diversified economy: agriculture (world's largest phosphate reserves), tourism (Marrakech, Fez, Sahara), automotive manufacturing (Renault, Stellantis plants), aerospace, and a growing renewable energy sector. The economy is stable and growing but does not attract Bangladeshi labour.

SECONDARY WESTERN MEDITERRANEAN TRANSIT ROLE:

Morocco is a departure point for the **Western Mediterranean Route (WMR)** to Spain — both across the Strait of Gibraltar and via the Atlantic route to the Canary Islands. In 2024, over **13,000 migrants** departed Moroccan shores. By August 2025, **11,466 migrants** (including some BD nationals) arrived in the Balearic Islands (Spain).

However, **Bangladeshi nationals are NOT a primary group on the Moroccan departure routes**. The main Mediterranean flow for BD nationals goes through Libya to Italy (Central Mediterranean Route), not through Morocco to Spain.
